Nancy L. Lange, 78, Baldwin, passed away peacefully at Edgewood Mandan, surrounded by her family on October 9, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, with Pastor Chuck Pedersen officiating. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Wilton.

Nancy was born on May 20, 1947, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Raymond Lawson and Vivian (Lawson) Poland. She grew up in Rockville, Maryland, and graduated from high school in 1965.

Nancy met the love of her life, Bruce Lange, while he was stationed in Washington, D.C., and they were married on June 20, 1970. Once married, Nancy moved across the country to the Lange family farm overlooking the Missouri River. She worked alongside Bruce dairy farming for 22 years while also being a stay-at-home mother to their three children. She often joked that Bruce had to find a big city girl halfway across the U.S. who had no clue what it meant to be a dairy farmer 365 days a year. It didn’t take long before she fully embraced country living, never wanting to leave her little white house with its beautiful view.

In 1990, Nancy earned her associate’s degree from Bismarck State College. After selling the dairy cows in 1992, she began working as a medical billing specialist for St. Alexius Hospital. She later worked at Sanford and The Baptist Home before fully retiring in 2012.

Nancy was a proud member of the Riverside Homemakers Club and the Wilton American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with Bruce, playing cards and games, baking, sewing, and hand quilting. Some of her greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren—hosting tea parties and teaching them to drink their tea properly with cream and sugar. Zoo outings and circus trips were among her favorite adventures with them.

Nancy is survived by her children, Carmen (Jack) Biesterfeld, Baldwin, Laura (Alan) Toman, Mandan, and Donald (Lacey) Lange, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Nicole (Alex) Paulson, Durango, CO, Ty Biesterfeld, Bismarck, Emily and Addy Toman, Mandan, and Kenley and Ellia Lange, Bismarck; her sisters, Debra Lawson, Powder Springs, GA, and Monetta (Joe) Ward, Rockmart, GA; sisters-in-law, Carlene (Marvin) Dockter, Baldwin and Ardyth Volesky, Redding, CA; as well as her nieces and nephews — Anna, Danny, James, Raymond, Philip, Josie, Sara Jo, Dallas, Keith, and Karli.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Lange; her parents, Raymond Lawson and Vivian (Lawson) Poland; infant sister, Renee Lawson; brothers, Raymond “Bear” Lawson and James “Jimmy” Lawson; and parents-in-law, Donald and Louella Lange.

Nancy will be remembered for her deep love and devotion to her family, her bright smile and joyful laugh, her delicious cooking/baking, and, above all, the sound of her beautiful singing voice.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Edgewood Mandan and CaringEdge for their compassionate and loving care of their beloved mom.
