Nancy Laura (Kimball) Martin, 83, Velva, ND, passed away on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 in her home.

Nancy was born to Lynn and Florence (Taft) Kimball and grew up on a farm in the Glencoe area SE of Bismarck, ND, along with her 7 siblings.

In high school, Nancy was a part of the orchestra, playing the cello. After graduating from Bismarck High School (on a recent trip to Bismarck, mom proudly sang the Bismarck Demons school song!), she married Donavin Martin in May 9th,1964 and together welcomed 5 children.

Life eventually led the family to Velva, ND where Nancy had an array of accounting/payroll positions throughout her life: office clerk for Velva Public School, administrative assistant for Midwest Processing Plant, office manager for Local #300 Plumber & Pipe Fitter Union, front office associate at Lowe’s Printing, and later in life office administrator for Oak Valley Lutheran Church.

Nancy loved to paint and wallpaper and was very meticulous to make sure it turned out just right. She learned to play the piano, played the accordion, and had hoped one day to get back to her love of playing cello. Nancy would go back home to Bismarck on weekends, as she and her sisters and sister-in-law looked forward to playing endless hands of pinochle with bottomless mugs of coffee and dessert to enjoy.

Nancy would go to the casino at a drop of a hat! On her last outing there, she had a great run that was so fun to watch and see her enjoy her good fortune! She looked forward to her annual trip to Florida to spend time with her daughter and granddaughter. Many special memories were created each trip.

Nancy was a member of St. Cecelia’s Catholic church of Velva. Faith and Family were most cherished by Nancy. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was always so proud of her family’s achievements and stood by them through difficult times as well. Our mom/grandma was the gem of our family. We are going to miss her but will live by her example each day. Fly high momma, we love you so!!

Nancy is survived by her 5 children, Terri Rivera, Jackie (Dan) Craig, Don Martin, Seth Martin, Cole (Janice) Martin. 10 grandchildren: Tristan Rivera; Zachary (Maddie) Craig, Kayla (Calob) Werre, Danielle (Kyle) Larson, Cayden Craig; Abigail (“doobi”) Martin; Matt (Holly) Sollid, Ashton, Addison, and Brady Martin. 6 great grandchildren: Wrenley, Draven and Rowynn Werre; Brooks and Quinn Sollid (Baby Sollid due Dec. 2026). Brother: Keith Kimball; sister-in-law: LaVerne Kimball. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents: Lynn & Florence Kimball. Siblings: June Hinkel, Richard Kimball, Virginia Ritchie, Doug Kimball, Dan Kimball, and Lynda Kimball.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00am, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E. Century Ave. Bismarck, ND. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.

Burial will take place in Glencoe Cemetery, rural Bismarck
