Patricia Overbeek

Patricia “Pat” Overbeek, 76, Bismarck, passed away December 20, 2023. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 22 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior.

Patricia was born on October 25, 1947 to William and Edna French in Arkansas. She married Larry Overbeek, on October 3, 1967, and to this union three children were born. Pat and Larry later separated, but the two maintained a great friendship over the years.

She served in the Army Medical Corp from 1965-67 until her honorable discharge. Throughout her life, she resided in many states, including Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Connecticut, Arkansas, Missouri and North Dakota. Pat held a career in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, working at Bemidji Hospital and Nursing Home. In her later years, she was a great nanny to her two grandsons.

Pat enjoyed spending time in nature, often fishing and camping. She kept a beautiful garden and loved all different types of flowers. Her favorite color was purple, and she enjoyed seeing the lilacs bloom each year. She enjoyed puzzle books, reading, cooking, and gambling. Above all her hobbies, she enjoyed spending time with family the most. Later in life, she met David Stavig and the two enjoyed each other’s companionship over the years.

She was a strong-willed woman, and through her health issues throughout the years, her perseverance got her through her hardest battles.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Schuette, and Pam Overbeek; son, Randy Overbeek; grandsons, Josh and Zach Schuette; sisters, Susie (Alan) Schwarts and Nita Bruss; brothers, Buster French, John Henry French, and Jason French; former husband, Larry (Holly) Overbeek; brother-in-law, Kevin Overbeek; fur-baby, Murphy; special friend, Becky Koehnen; and many other friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna French, parents-in-law, Adrian and Jeanette Overbeek; sister-in-law, Nancy Overbeek; brother-in-law, George Rashkalb; and special friend, David Stavig.
