Obituary

 

Patrick Heidrich, 70, passed away on October 15, 2023, at Sanford Health in Bismarck after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his loving family and completely at peace with God’s will.                                

Visitation will be held from 6:15-7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck. A rosary and vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 19, at Church of St. Anne.  

Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Patrick was born August 14, 1953, to Magnus and Helen. After growing up in Strasburg and graduating from Emmons Central High School, he pursued a degree in Architectural Drafting from Wahpeton State School of Science. After a brief time working in South Dakota, he moved to Bismarck and began working at Melroe Company in 1974. He worked as an engineer at Bobcat Company (formerly Melroe) for a total of 41 years, during which he received numerous awards and a United States Patent. 

He met his bride, Elizabeth “Betty”, and were married on June 16, 1979, at St. Anthony’s Church in Linton, ND. Together they raised seven beautiful children, of whom he was extremely proud. Pat enjoyed working on his lawn and tending to his impressive garden. He enjoyed playing cards and board games with his children and grandchildren, and completing crossword puzzles. Pat was a faithful Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council at St. Anne Parish. He liked to travel, and over the past few years enjoyed several cruises and two winters in South Carolina. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, especially making ornaments and toys for his grandchildren. 

Patrick is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of 44 years; his children: Jason (Tamara) Heidrich, Prior Lake, MN; Jessica (Brandon) Martel, Bismarck; Jodi (Jeremy) Keller, Bismarck; Abbey (Derrick) Nagel, Bismarck; Davis (Anne Marie) Heidrich, Charleston, SC; Becka (Ryan) Koll, Mandan; Maria (Alex) Huizenga, Bismarck; his 26 grandchildren: Alexis, Adrianna, Elias, Elani Heidrich; Annika, Hannah, Noah, Derek, Levi, Trinity, Christopher, Kateri Martel; Hailey, Libby, Bridget Keller; Dominic, William, Leo, James, Anne Nagel; Patrick, baby Heidrich; Brantley, Karson, Oliver Koll; Bennett Huizenga; four sisters: Bernadette Heidrich, Deloris (Ron) Volk, Lasy (Ruben) Bosch, Flora (Gary) Austad; mother-in-law Rosina Bosch, Linton; two sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Anselm) Ternes, Luiza (Toby) Schatz; three brothers-in-law: Alfred (Karen) Bosch, Frank Bosch, and Ronald (Jenel) Bosch.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Magnus and Helen (Tschosik) Heidrich; father-in-law, Alfred Bosch; and brother-in-law, Glenn Bosch.
