Obituary

"Patty" Patricia Schock, 57, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Patty was born on March 27, 1969, in Minot, North Dakota, to Floyd and Nancy (Strand) Kohler. She was the oldest of three daughters. She graduated from Carpio High School. She later attended Minot State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Mathematics.

Patty proudly served her country in the United States Army Reserves for 10 years. During Operation Desert Storm, she was called to active duty and served in a hospital unit. Following her military service, she dedicated approximately 30 years as a Budget Analyst for the State of North Dakota, beginning her career in 1995 before retiring in September 2025.

On April 5, 1997, during North Dakota's memorable blizzard, Patty married the love of her life, Vance Schock. Their love story began at a rodeo dance, where they were introduced by a mutual friend. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three daughters, who were the center of Patty's world.

Patty found joy in life's simple blessings. She recently found a love of gardening, especially growing tomatoes, canning and freezing vegetables, processing fruit, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and trail rides. More than anything, she cherished being a wife and mother. Her daughters were her greatest pride and the focus of her life. She was also active in her Bible study, continually strengthening her faith and growing in her relationship with God.

Those left to cherish Patty's memory include her devoted husband of 29 years, Vance Schock; her daughters, Kyla (Matthew) Harney, Kaitlyn (Camdon Wanner) Schock, and Kalyssa Schock; her parents, Floyd (Mary) Kohler and Nancy (Leland) Ward; her sisters, Kristi (Tom) Overman and Julie (Greg) Lecher; her mother-in-law, Twyla Schock; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Velvet (Perry) Finck, Velecia Schock, Verland Schock, and Verrick (Sarah) Schock; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews some of who she never got to meet, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Herbert and Helen Kohler; her maternal grandparents, Chet and Evelyn Strand; and her father-in-law, Clarence Schock.

Patty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, servant's heart, quiet strength, and unconditional love for her family. She lived a life rooted in kindness, devotion, and grace, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck.
