Philomena
Dosch
August 18, 1932 – May 19, 2026
Philomena Dosch was joyfully welcomed into heaven by our faithful Lord, the angels, saints, and her beloved son, Myron on 5/19/26. Her gentle spirit, strong hugs, kindness, and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Yet, even in our sorrow, we hold onto the comforting thought that she just arrived in Heaven before us!
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 26, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave. Visitation will begin at 9 AM, and a rosary will start at 9:45 AM.
Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Philomena was born on August 18, 1932, in Dickinson, North Dakota. Her grandmother Josephine and her aunt Mary lovingly helped her mother at the time of her birth. Philomena was affectionately known as “Minnie” by her family.
As a young girl, Philomena enjoyed helping on the family farm. She loved spending time outdoors, watching the birds and wildlife, tending the garden, and offering a helping hand wherever it was needed. She especially treasured the time shared with brothers and sisters and grandparents.
Her family later moved to Steele, North Dakota. In time, Philomena and her sister moved to Bismarck, where she worked at the hospital caring for children—work that reflected her nurturing spirit.
Philomena met Edward J. Dosch at a dance, and they were united in marriage on September 20, 1954. Together, they were blessed with four children: Ernie, Myron, Joan, and Sharon.
Philomena gave loving and attentive care to her son, Myron, always providing him with a meaningful and fulfilling life. She created opportunities for him to connect with others and be part of the community through visits with neighbors, walks around the block, helping at St. Anne’s Church and school, and spending time at the park or sitting together outside on the steps of their home.
Philomena later earned her GED and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. After Edward retired, she worked part-time at the Baptist Home, where she found great joy in caring for residents and forming friendships with her co-workers.
She loved to sew and mend. She sewed clothes, doll clothes, aprons, potholders, quilts, car seat covers, and embroidered dish towels with detailed designs. Her creativity and artistic gifts were evident in all she made.
Philomena was a blessing to her neighbors, thoughtfully checking in on them, helping as needed, sharing warm baked goods fresh from the oven, and making sure they always felt loved and cared for.
Philomena’s kindness will forever be remembered by her children: Ernie (Diane), Joan (Mark), and Sharon (Roger); her grandchildren: Nikki, Jenny (Cole), Erin (Chris), Emma (Jonathan), Ryan (Phyllis), Kelly (Brian), and Anna (Jose); and her great-grandchildren: Adria Lynn, Kendall Nicole, Rylee Marie, Camden Edwin, Frances Rose, Henry Skye, Louisa Rae, Finley Jane, Henry Alan, and Velma Jean. She is also survived by her sister Nancy, her brothers August and Victor, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beautiful son, Myron; her husband, Edward; her parents, Frank and Philomena (Dvorak) Privratsky; her sisters Mary, Dorothy, and Tillie; her brothers Henry, Frankie, Benny, and Willie; and other dear family members who now welcome her with open arms.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dcn. Victor Dvorak, Sr. Ivo Schoch, and Nadine Privratsky, for their gracious kindness and support. They are also very grateful to all who lovingly shared their compassion, patience, laughter, caring hands, and comforting presence with Philomena. A special thank you and a big, strong "Phil" hug to Asima, Shelle, Sherry, Make, Taylor, Melissa, Rebecca, Mary, and Grant. Your presence and all that you do are deeply appreciated.
If you would like to honor Philomena’s memory, please consider offering a warm hug or kind smile to someone in need, checking in on a neighbor, or sending a handwritten note to brighten someone’s day. Thank you for helping share the kindness and love that meant so much to her.
