Phyllis Ruth (Wax) Cave was born to Marcus and Ruth (Bjerga) on May 29, 1943 (same day as an uncle and a President) at Fort Sill, OK. Her father Marcus was stationed at Fort Sill, OK. Mom got the itch to travel when her Dad was being sent overseas. They traveled to CA to see him off. From there her Mother and Phyllis went to MN to visit relatives and look for a job. Her Mother went to work for an electrician and his wife till her Father was discharge from the Army. In March of 1951, her Father, Mother and siblings moved to ND to take over the family farm. Phyllis stayed behind and finished 2nd grade and then rode the train from Staples, MN to Dickinson, ND, by herself. Mind you, she was only 8 years old.

Mom attended various schools throughout her younger years. When the country school was open, the teacher stayed with the family. Her Father drove school bus for the Regent School District, so Mom graduated from Regent High.

Mom was involved in various organizations. She was also a good seamstress and made clothes for the kids. She also liked to make quilts, embroidered dish towels, and crochet. Her hands were busy all the time.

Mom liked to bake and one item that she made every year at Christmas were the ammonia cookies. Her brothers (Butch and Curt) always got a package if they came down or we went to their place. She would also mail a package to her son-in-law, Bill.

Mom met Dad (Walter) when him and his brother, (Les), laid the cement blocks for the basement of a house that was being moved onto the farm. In July of 1967, they were married.

Due to Dad's various jobs, they moved around a lot. They lived in IA, MT and ND. When the girls started school, Mom said no more traveling for them as she didn't want to take the girls out of school in the middle of a year. So, Bismarck became their home. In the summer of 1981, Dad got a job driving milk truck and was stationed in Regent so they moved their trailer house there. At the same time, Mom went into the cafe business. Course us kids had to help out after school.

Mom had attended IBC in Fargo and worked at various places, including the ND Health Dept. in Grand Forks as a secretary. In 1990, Mom went back to school and got her secretary degree from IBC in Bismarck. She worked at a number of positions and places naming just a few. Bank of ND, NODOT, lawyer and mining consultant. Mom loved all her jobs as they were interesting.

Mom is survived by her children Carrie (Bill) Bieberitz, Chino Valley, AZ, Jodi (Brent) Friedt, West Fargo, ND and Chad, Bismarck, ND. Three grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Tyler and 4 Great granddaughters, RaeLynn, Fiona, Penelope and Aaliyah. Brothers Albert (Susan) Wax, TX, Marcus, (Butch,) (Cindy) Wax, KS and Curtis (Michele) Wax, ND, sisters Pauline (Tim) Welder, FL and Ruth Zerbel, CA. Also, sister-in-law Luella Cave and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, parents Marcus and Ruth Wax, in-laws Frank and Emma Cave, brothers-in-law Leslie Cave and Darcy Zerbel, nephews Kevin Cave and John Wax. Also, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

If you wish to make a donation, make it to either the ND Veterans Cemetery or the Wounded Warriors.

We want to thank all who sent us cards, messages or attended Mom's funeral. May God Bless you all.
