Phyllis Eileen (Horner) Delzer, 85, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, Feb. 10, at Bismarck Baptist Church, 2211 Laforest Ave, Bismarck.

Visitation will begin at 6:30 PM, Thursday, Feb. 9, at Bismarck Baptist Church, with a prayer service starting at 7:30 PM. Visitation will begin again on Friday at noon, followed by the service at 1:00 PM.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  

Phyllis was born June 22, 1937, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Lloyd and Ella (Jacobson) Horner. She graduated from Mohall High School and the Northwestern Technology Program in Minneapolis.

She married Bruce Delzer on Aug. 31, 1958, in Ashley, ND. They resided in Ashley until moving to Bismarck in 1959.

Phyllis was a lab technician in Ashley, where she met Bruce. She became a homemaker, raising three girls before re-entering the workforce. She worked for the tax department at the State Capital and later for the Department of Public Instruction in the office of School Food Services for many years before retiring at the age of 62.

She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress, even sewing her own wedding gown and the family’s clothing. She took joy in serving at many church events, family camping trips, and loved time with her grandchildren. Numerous hours were spent supporting Bruce through his softball days.

Phyllis  is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bruce; daughters, Barb (Ron) Peterson, Bismarck, Beth (Glenn) Herr, Wishek, and Sheila (Jeff) Becker, Cape Coral, FL; nine grandchildren, Ian (Katie) Schmidt, Aaron (Anna) Schmidt, Ashley (Reed) Mehus, Brock (Bailey Pelletier) Hiltner, Jen (Grant) Bollingberg, Barrett (Patti) Herr, Jeremy (Ali) Herr, Jesse (Brittany) Becker, Graham Becker; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Gates, ND; and brothers, Jerry Horner, CA, Mike Horner, OR, and Vince (Betty) Horner, ND. 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Mick Gates and Darvin Werth; and sister-in-law, Leona Werth.
