Pius was born on September 6, 1935 in Strasburg, North Dakota to Egidi and Anna (Zacher) Keller. The family moved to Mandan where Pius attended St. Joseph School and quickly learned the English language, as only German was spoken in his home. He graduated from Mandan High School where he excelled on the swim team. After high school, he attended Bismarck Junior College and Valley City College graduating in 1961 with a degree in Education. He taught junior and senior high school at Karlsruhe, Stanton and Cathedral of the Holy Spirit school. He worked at the metal arts division of L&H Manufacturing for 26 years as sales manager. He also worked in appliances at Sears.

On July 10, 1959, Pius married Arlene Senger at St Mary’s Pro Cathedral Church. They raised three children and spent 67 years together before his death. Pius loved music and sang in choirs at Cathedral and Corpus Christi. He was an active member of the Elks #1199 and the Knights of Columbus #6540, making pancakes at all of the breakfasts in his earlier years. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, fishing, watching sports and westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He had a positive outlook on life and an infectious smile. His presence will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; his children, David (JoAnn) Keller, Kevin (Valerie) Keller and Teresa (Steve) Tollerud; his grandchildren, Alexandria (Kale) Peterson, Daniel Keller and his fiancé Brittany, Emily Tollerud and Jacob Tollerud; his step grandchildren, Brent Wagner, Reba (Randall) and Cody (Karen) Bucholtz; great-grandchildren, Wylee, Josie and Kolter; step great-grandchildren, Bode, Punchy, Wesley, Brynlee and Brenna; his siblings, Ramona (Jerry) Kelsh, Bernadine Hetzler and August Keller.
