Rebecca Gear, 71, passed away on June 8, 2023 after a battle with COPD and heart issues. Per her request, there will be no services.

Rebecca Lynne (Dis-Mommy) was born on Sept. 1, 1951, in San Francisco, CA to James and Phoebe (Bredell) Wright. She moved to Hyde Park, IL, when she was around two years of age and at the end of third grade she moved to Park Forest, IL. Growing up, Rebecca spent her summers with her sisters and grandparents in Dickey, ND. She had various moves throughout her adulthood but ultimately settled in Steele, ND. Rebecca worked as a grant administrator for the ABA and spent time in the Navy.

Her love of God was her number one in life. She had a great love of animals, especially cats. Many people knew Rebecca as “Becky” or “Bek.” She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles (especially with her daughter Cindy), bible study, her computer, and playing Farkle with her loved ones.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, James Kenneth Wright and Phoebe Lue (Bredall); grandparents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda Lue (Robert) Kiser.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Cynthia Jo (Mark) Engelke (Dis-Cinny); Robert Daniel (Mary) Urban (Dis-Woobie); grandchildren, James Kenneth D’Andrea, Rachel Marie (Austin) Flath, Cody William Engelke, Angelina JoLynne Urban, Danielle Gracie May Urban; sister and brother-in-law, Susan Ann (Lawrence) Goehring, dear friend, Larry Brusven; long-time high school friends, Dawn Bednarczyk and Charlene Mann; a niece; and her nephews.
