Rev. Irvin Bruenjes, 90, Bismarck, passed away on July 20, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM, Thursday, July 25 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 615 E Turnpike Ave, Bismarck. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 6:30PM, with a prayer service starting at 6:30PM, Wednesday, July 24 at Bethel Lutheran Church. The service and visitation will be livestreamed by Bethel Lutheran Church.

Interment at Zion Cemetery, New Salem. 

Irvin was born on July 3, 1934 in Girard, Kansas to Louis and Christina Bruenjes. In 1960, he graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO and served congregations in Shattuck, OK, Follett, TX, Abilene, KS, New Salem, ND and Glen Ullin, ND.

He married Mary Ryan on July 11, 1959, in St. Louis, MO. They celebrated 65 years of marriage on July 11, 2024. 

Irvin is survived by his wife, Mary Bruenjes; son, Don (Jackie) Bruenjes, West Fargo, ND; daughters, Jean Marie Hall Grove, OK; Janelle (Toby) Hoherz Center, ND; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, infant son, Phillip and one grandson, Anthony Nelson.
