Richard Wayne Schauer, 77, Mandan, formerly of Underwood, passed away on July 13, 2019 at Prospera in Mandan. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Sunne Lutheran Church, 7701 ND-36, Wilton, ND, with Rev. Paul Schauer officiating.  Burial will be held following the service at 1:00 pm at the Turtle Lake Cemetery.

Richard Wayne Schauer was born on August 25, 1941 to Lillian (Johnson) and Edward Schauer in Underwood.  Richard was raised and educated in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School.  He was once married to Dorothy Freuer.

Richard lived for a time in Garrison and Riverdale when he worked for the Core of Engineers, but he lived most of his life  in Underwood, where he was a painter and did many odd jobs, retiring in the early 2000’s. In 2012 Richard moved to Liberty Heights in Mandan. He enjoyed volunteering there, delivering meals and more. Throughout his years, Richard had a green thumb and enjoyed planting and tending to his garden.

Richard is survived by his step daughter, Debbie (Carlyle) Hausauer, Mercer, ND, daughter, Patty (Allen) Albaugh, Bismarck, sons, Darvin (Missy) Schauer and Jay (Nikki) Schauer, all of Mandan; grandchildren, Courtney (Duncan) Swart, Karissa Albaugh, Kolton Albaugh, Casey Schauer, Savana Schauer, Breanna (Chad) Brinkman and Karter Schauer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Edward Schauer; six siblings, Darwin Schauer, Art Wilson, Donald Wilson, Doris Rieke, Marge Schaaf and Allen Schauer.
