Richard Sturn, 92, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 6, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St, Bismarck. To view the service livestream, please click the link provided ~ Richard.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, February 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7 PM.
Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Richard was born on January 25, 1934, to Harry and Minnie (Schaner) Sturn on the family homestead near St. Vincent, ND.
Richard married Lillian (Haider) on June 28, 1955. They made their home in Bismarck and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary prior to Lillian’s passing in 2020.
Richard spent the majority of his career in the home construction trade. He started as a cabinet maker but quickly moved to home contracting and construction. He was self-employed, temporarily as co-owner of R & J Construction and then as sole proprietor of Sturn Construction.
Rich and Lil enjoyed dancing, playing cards and traveling in their leisure time. He was happiest puttering at their cabin on the Missouri River but especially enjoyed sharing it with extended family and friends. Richard took pride in that he could fix or build almost anything, particularly when it was for his family.
Richard and Lillian were blessed with five children: Sylvia Burgess, Bismarck, Pam (Joe) Doto, Henderson NV, Judy (Aca) Kursave, Bismarck, Cindy (Brad) Binegar, Bismarck, and Dean (Rachel) Sturn, Mandan; 11 grandchildren, Nick Burgess, Andrea (Caleb) Toranzo, Abby (Brandon) Wellman, Ryan (Melanie) Morel, Brandon Morel (Liz Buller), Cristin (Joe) Zayden, Meagan (Jared) Thune, Erica (Tayler) Wescom, Brooke Binegar, and Jacob and Hunter Sturn; and six great-grandchildren; Adelyn, Carter and Declan Thune, Mia Zayden, Callahan Toranzo, and Owen Wescom.
He is survived by his children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; parents; brothers, Edward, Donald and Charles; sister, Monica; and son-in-law, Jeff Burgess.
