Robert “Rob” Bertsch Jr, 84 of Bismarck, passed away December 30, 2025.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Family will greet visitors from 5:00-6:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Service. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 6:00 PM.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

Rob was born on June 19, 1941 in Jamestown, ND. He lived with his parents, Robert Sr. and Ella, and siblings, Steve and Jean, on the family farm north of Robinson. In school, Rob was active in music and loved to sing. He graduated from Robinson High School in 1959.

After high school, Rob worked with farmers Bob Bowerman and Milton Dobbert on their farms near Robinson. Rob was an active member of the Robinson community. He never needed to ask anyone to dance with him because he always had a line of women asking him to dance. He was a GREAT dancer!

When his parents moved to Lincoln, North Dakota in 1989, Rob moved there as well. He worked at the Tumbleweed bar, where he made many lifelong friends. After his stroke, he worked at Big Lots until he retired.

He never missed a family birthday or holiday, even if he needed assistance to get there. He remembered everyone, even his great-grandnieces and great-grandnephew.

He was a simple, humble man. His family will always remember him by his kind smile, his hatred of Miracle Whip, and his uncanny ability to get the best gift at the Christmas gift exchange game.

His family wants to thank all the staff at the Terrace for their loving care of Rob over the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella, and his brother, Steve. He is survived by his sister, Jean (Fred) Rusch, and many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
