Robert Griffin

July 23, 1952 — June 30, 2024

Bismarck

Robert “Rob” Eugene Griffin, 71 of Lincoln, North Dakota died after a ferocious four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He peacefully left this earth on June 30, 2024 after saying his final goodbyes.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30AM, Friday, July 5 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Visitation will begin an hour before the service starts.

Rob was born and raised in Jamestown, ND and graduated from Jamestown High School. He was the third oldest of eight siblings. He married Susan Storsved in 1973 and together they had four children, Taylor, Amber, Logan and Robin.

Throughout his lifetime Rob enjoyed his kids, grandkids, hunting, poker, playing softball and golf. He participated in the Target Make-a-Wish tournament every year and never missed an opportunity to tell you about his hole-in-one. He especially enjoyed gathering with all the extended family for the holidays, but most notably is the July Griffin Christmas where the highlight was lighting off fireworks on his property. In his younger years, he looked forward to waterfowl hunting with his brothers, friends and family.

Throughout his life he had ownership and management of many restaurants throughout North Dakota with his final residence being in the Bismarck/Lincoln area since the late 90s. He was proud of all of his achievements, especially his Bachelor of Hamburgerology.

Rob was known for his clever words. Those who met him knew him for his unique laugh, loud whistle, and his witty jokes. He maybe didn’t know the exact words to express himself, but his family knew how much he loved and cared for them. He made a point to connect with his kids and grandkids frequently and closed every conversation with, “I love you” (38). He loved giving his kids and grandkids trinkets, games and remote-control gadgets as gifts and no one was allowed to get a gumball until first guessing its color as you put the quarter in his gumball machine. His grandkids knew him as “Papa” while others in the community knew him as the “Pretzel Guy '' for owning Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.

Rob is survived by and will be dearly missed by his children, son, Taylor (Lexi) Griffin; grandchildren, Avery & Kaelyn Griffin; daughter, Amber (Tyler) Auck, grandchildren, Tess Griffin, Mya Jose & Charlie Auck; son, Logan (Cindy) Griffin, grandchildren, Lily, Ivy & Dayne Griffin; daughter, Robin (Daron) Jones; grandchild Poppy Jones, all of Bismarck; his siblings, Paul (Nora) Griffin of Bismarck, Connie (Glen) Kleinknecht of Mesa, AZ, Daniel (Janet) Griffin of Columbus, MT, Timothy Griffin of Moorhead, MN, Richard (Donette) Griffin of Bismarck and Laura Becker of Valley City, ND; sister-in-law, Connie (Mark) Griffin Bismarck, ND and so many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & D. Elaine Griffin; brother, Mark Griffin and sister-in-law, Jean Griffin.
