Robert D. Hudson

October 30, 1941 — July 3, 2024

On July 3rd, 2024, in Bismarck ND, Chief Master Sergeant Robert D. Hudson (Ret) conquered death, finished a 14-year battle with cancer and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

Bob was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in October, 1941. He graduated high school from Prairie Christian Academy in Alberta Canada in 1959. After graduating high school, Bob joined the United States Air Force retiring in 1986. After leaving the Air Force, Bob started college at Minot State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Addiction Studies and Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) in three years. He received his Master’s Degree in Addiction Studies from Nova South Eastern University in 2004.

Bob was married to Cynthia Renee Hudson (Hill) from 1966 until the time of his passing. They had two children, Robert Andrew Hudson of Watertown, South Dakota and Patrick Charles Hudson of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Bob has two beloved Daughters in Law, Amanda Hudson and Dara Hudson respectively. He also has 10 cherished grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Renee and her husband Tony, Mariah and her husband Dauntae, who is expecting their first child, Jacob, Avery, Juven, MaKennah, Zachary, Audrey (Otter), Jace, Aleyna and 2 Great Grand Children Anna and Sara. 

During Bob’s distinguished career in the United States Air Force, he was stationed in England, California, Vietnam, Shemya Air Force Base in the Aleutian Islands Alaska and Minot North Dakota. He was a highly decorated Air Traffic Controller/Human Resource Officer and retired the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After he retired from the United States Air Force, Bob went to college and became a licensed drug and alcohol addiction counselor. He was employed with the Veterans Administration serving veterans with alcohol and drug dependency. Bob loved his job serving his fellow veterans, retiring in 2008. He truly had the servant’s heart of Jesus.

Granddad, as he was known by his family, loved traveling with his wife Cynthia, going on ride a long with his son Patrick (NDHP), road trips with his boys, community outreach with his son Andrew, discussing history, reminiscing with his brothers and Mom, and supporting his family in their endeavors. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories of his boys and of his own childhood.

He is survived by his beloved wife, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and a brother.
