Bismarck

Robert Lee “Bob” McIntyre, 83, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025, in Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7 p.m.

Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Bob was born August 12, 1941, in Bismarck, ND, to Owen and Margaret (Mulholland) McIntyre, he was the youngest of nine children. He attended school in Wing, ND until the family moved to Bismarck, he then attended St. Mary’s. He joined the National Guard in December 1962. On May 1, 1965 he married Agnes Schneider at St. Mary’s Church. They were blessed to have their marriage of 60 years blessed on May 1. They had four children.

Bob worked as a mason and bricklayer; his specialty was fireplaces and stonework. He was truly an artist when it came to his trade. You may see some of his work around Bismarck, including the rectory at Cathedral. In 1988, Bob and Agnes moved to Minneapolis. There he worked on countless projects including large-scale ones like the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Bob shared his love for fishing and hunting with his children as they were growing up and eventually with his grandchildren. There were many trips to the badlands to hunt deer, antelope and elk. Bob and Agnes had many fishing trips to the lakes while living in MN.

Bob was known for his sense of humor and silliness, especially with his grandchildren. He even dressed up as a clown for birthdays! He was one of his grandkids greatest cheerleaders, he would attend many of their events. When he was out and about, he would soon start chatting with anyone near him, there were no strangers to Bob.

Bob had been sober for 53 years. This was a great source of pride for Bob and those who love him. He was instrumental in supporting many, many people going through recovery. He has had a positive effect on many lives. He would tell many that “you don’t have to live the way you’re living and you don’t have to feel the way you’re feeling if you don’t want to”.

Bob had many hobbies, and welcoming Purple Martins in the Spring was one of his favorites. Bob even managed to put up all his purple martin houses before he passed away.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes; sons, Hugh (Lisa) and Tim (Kirsten), both of Bismarck; daughter, Marcy (Stan) Mros, of St. Louis Park, MN; six grandchildren, Teagan, Abigail, Gavin, Hannah, Garrett, and Molly McIntyre; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Bobby” George McIntyre; his parents; and siblings, Pat, Mary Alice Bouche, Rose Eide, Dick, Hugh, Jim, Mark and Helen.
