It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney “Rod” Lynn Kimball, who left us due to natural causes on January 17, 2026, at the age of 63 in Bismarck, ND, surrounded by loving family, friends, and neighbors.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be held from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at his favorite watering hole, The Lodge, 1247 W Divide Ave, Bismarck. Please enter at the side door, on the West side of The Lodge. Kids are welcome, and lunch and beverages will be served

Born on September 20, 1962, in Grand Forks, ND, Rod was the son of Richard and LaVerne Kimball. Rod graduated from Red River High School, Grand Forks, ND, and went on to pursue a plumbing degree at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where he earned his associate degree. His career was marked by dedication and hard work, working as a facility maintenance technician in Bismarck and being a plumbing designer in Loma Linda, CA. We remember him for his generosity and love of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and following his favorite sports teams, the Miami Dolphins and UND hockey.
Rod is survived by his loving mother; LaVerne M. Kimball, Bismarck, ND; sister, Pam (Mitchell) Tharaldson, Paso Robles, CA; brother, Rick (Rhonda) Kimball, Fargo, ND; nieces, Tayler (Matt) Tharaldson Peterson, Santa Cruz, CA and Jennifer (Adam) Kimball Walter, Fargo, ND; nephew, Michael (Roxanne) Kimball, St. Paul, MN; great-nieces, Lucinda and Greta Kimball, St. Paul, MN, and great-nephews, Connor and Cale Walter, Fargo, ND, and Nico Peterson, Santa Cruz, CA.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Lynn Kimball; maternal grandparents, Leo and Genevieve Eberle; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Florence Kimball and various other family members. Cremation has taken place. We invite friends and family to join together to honor his memory in Bismarck, ND.
