Roger
Hummel
January 22, 1946 – March 16, 2026
Roger Charles Hummel passed away peacefully in the care and company of loved ones, on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Bismarck.
Roger was born to Ben and Alvina (Ella) Hummel in Linton, North Dakota on January 22, 1946. He was the oldest of thirteen children. He graduated from Hague High School in 1963, whereupon he attended North Dakota State School of Science and North Dakota State University. There he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business. Roger served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1966-1972, whereupon he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He embarked on a diverse career as an accountant, insurance agent, and small business owner. Through it all, he had his beloved farm.
Roger was proud of his education, and always intellectually curious. He enjoyed cooking, history, travel, restoring tractors, grain crop farming and conversations with friends and family about all of these topics. He loved his farm, and above all he loved his family. He was a devoted son, brother, father and grandfather. He was immensely proud of his children Brent and Krista, and his granddaughter Lily was the apple of his eye. He never missed an opportunity to be with her and remembered her on every holiday and special occasion. Lily adored her Papa.
Roger is survived by his brothers Fran Hummel, Bernard Hummel, Alan Hummel and Kelly Hummel; sisters Marilyn LeClair, Cheryl Baumgartner, Bev Voller, Laura Schuster and Karla Chamberlain; his son Brent Hummel; his daughter Krista Andrews, and his granddaughter Lily Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Alvina Hummel, his brothers Dean and Dennis Hummel, and his sister Marlene Hummel.
