Roger Quast

Roger Quast, 84, Bismarck, passed away on June 16, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 21, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, June 20, at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Burial will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Roger William Quast was born June 22, 1939, in Ellendale, ND. He was the oldest and only son of William and Rose Quast. Roger met Karene (Onstad) Quast while attending Union College in Lincoln, NE. They were married four years later on July 8, 1962.

Roger and Karene lived in Germany the first few years of their marriage as Roger was in the Army and Karene the civil service. After their time in Germany, they lived in North Dakota and Colorado before settling in Bismarck, ND. Roger taught at Bismarck High School and Karene was a nurse at St. Alexius Hospital. Roger and Karene have four children, five grandchildren and many foster grandchildren.

Roger was an excellent teacher. He taught algebra and geometry for many years. He was also an accomplished musician who played several instruments and had a beautiful voice. He was a wonderful person. Roger was kind, supportive, with a great sense of humor and a love for animals, smart, charming, and he had a wonderful presence that will be truly missed. This is a difficult loss and we can’t wait to hear his laughter and music when Jesus comes again.

Roger joins his beloved wife, Karene, sleeping in Jesus; they are amid their four children, Mark (Ann Marie) Center, ND; Michael (Lonna) Mandan, ND; Marlow (Genevieve) Pheonix, AZ; and daughter, Monee, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Nadia, KennaDee, Michaela, Anders and Sabine; and many foster grandchildren; sister, Susan (Wayne) Schlafmann; brother-in-law, Richard (Janis) Dean; nieces and nephews, Monte (Heather) Dean, Morre (Katrina) Dean, Jill (Gerard) Gaven, Paul Schlafmann and Ron (Ben) Ehreth.
