Ronald Gessele

Ronald Gene Gessele was called to heaven on January 14, 2025 from the Missouri Slope Nursing Home where he had resided for the past ten months. Per Ronald's wishes, he was cremated. 

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior at the funeral home. 

Ronald was born at Turtle Lake, ND on June 30, 1943 to Henry E. and Adeline (Werner) Gessele. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1962. He started farming and ranching with his father in his early years. Ron and Connie Hoyer were married in 1964 and had three children, Jason (Crystal) Gessele, Deidre (Keith) Lange, Robert Gessele. 

Ron worked with heavy equipment and did construction for many years. In 1974, he started mining coal for Consolidation Coal which was later bought out by Basin Electric. Ron continued working for Basin Electric until age 50 when he retired in 1993. He continued farming until completely retiring when he was 62.

Ron started farming the first quarter of land he purchased in 1974 with his first Oliver tractor, an Oliver 99, 1947 four-cylinder gas. He continued collecting Oliver tractors until 2023. He was a member of the Northern Lights Oliver Club and enjoyed attending many threshing shows. 

He leaves behind his beloved wife and children; along with his sister, Charelette (Chris) Holwagner; brothers-in-law, Bill (Brenda) Gran and Larry (Claudine) Hoyer. 

Ron's legacy will be carried on by his seventeen grandchildren: Taylin (Natalie) Gessele, Sebastian Gessele, Michaela Gessele, Cheyenne Gessele, Samual Gessele, Scott (Kayla) Heinle, Michael Lampl, Victoria (Tyler) Elston, Karlin (Mandy) Lange, Josiah Lange, Bethany (John) Schultz, Graciella Lange, Praisandra Lange, AmyMay Lange, Symmone (Wyatt) Neidhardt, and Alyssa (Miguel) Suran Santos.

Ron was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Rowan, Alister, and Elsie Heinle; Blayn (Gator) Elston; Hailey Metzger; Finley and Rhett Lange; Cheyenne Schultz; Elizabeth and Jake Neidhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Adeline Gessele; and grandson, James Lampl.
