IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose
Kohler
February 18, 1930 – January 9, 2023
Rose Selma Kohler, 92, Bismarck, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2023, at St. Gabriel’s Benedictine Living Community.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held 5-7:00 P.M., Monday, Jan. 16, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 P.M.
Rose was the second eldest child, born to Joseph and Regina (Wagner) Schnellbach on Feb. 18, 1930, in Drake, North Dakota. She was raised on the family farm in Drake; she attended the rural school through seventh grade.
In her hometown, on Aug. 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edward Kohler. Rose was happy to be a homemaker and raise their four children. The family of six lived in different towns throughout North Dakota and Minnesota as they moved with Ed’s railroad job, making their final home in Bismarck.
Rose also found time to do some occasional waitressing as her children were growing. She always enjoyed an evening playing cards with family and friends or a good game of two-handed Whist with Ed. In retirement, she found her new favorite pastime … Bingo. Her love for Bingo carried on to the Senior Center and again while living at St. Gabriel’s.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Regina Kohler of Bismarck; two sons, Clifford (Heidi) Kohler, of Arizona, and James (Deb) Kohler, of Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Kohler; grandchildren, Kay Kohler, Tanya (Robert) Steckler, Hannah (Jacob) Kelley, Christopher (Anna) Kohler, Nicole Kohler, Tyler Kohler; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hailey, Autumn, Devlin, Kieran, Alpha, Aria, Casen, and Raechel; two brothers, Albert Schnellbach and George (Shirley) Schnellbach; brother-in-law, Floyd Kohler; sisters-in-law, Darlene Schnellbach, Agnes Schnellbach, Sharon (Jerry) Berndt, JoAnn Paulus, and June Kohler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years; son, Jeffery; granddaughter, Lisa; brothers, Jacob, Edward, Walter, John; and sister, Loretta.
