Obituary

Roy L. Risser, 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 16, 2026, with his wife of 32 years by his side.

A funeral service will start at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, March 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck, with a visitation starting at 12:00 pm.

Burial will be held at the Mandan Union Cemetery.

Roy was born on May 9th, 1962, in Valley City ND to Clarence & Betty Risser. He joined his sister Debra and brothers Guy and Joel.

As a child Roy was raised and educated in Valley City. He attended Valley City High School. Roy worked various jobs, but his favorite was his truck driving with Knife River.

Roy met the love of his life and life partner Cherie in the summer of 1991. Roy and Cherie were married July 3rd, 1993. To this marriage, they were blessed with 3 daughters, Brooke, Courtnie, and Aeriel.

Roy will be forever missed by his loving wife, Cherie; daughters, Brooke (Darren), Courtnie, and Aeriel (Tyler); 3 granddaughters, Aysia (Raynathan) Kiara, and Kitana; a grandson, Hunter; great-grandson, Dallas; sister, Debra; brother, Joel; mothers-in-law, Lillian Sayler and Louise Max; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and his beloved fur friends Pebbles and Nugget who will miss him dearly (they were his beloved riding buddies).

Preceding Roy in death is Clarence & Betty Risser, brother Guy Risser, father-in-law Melvin Max.
