Ruby G. Schepper

February 19, 1930 — November 19, 2018

The Lord said “Ruby, let me take away the pain in your body and the illness, come with me and I will give you rest.” She thought “Yes, it is time, here I am Lord, come and take me home.” And as her heart stopped ours were broken. Ruby Schepper, 88, Bismarck, died November 19, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 27, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Tom Grafsgaard officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, November 26, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Ruby Genevieve was born to Ralph Theodore and Gladys Anderson on February 19, 1930 at Fort Clark, ND. She was educated in Center, ND graduating from Center School in 1948. She married the love of her life Mike Schepper on November 22, 1949. She was called home three days before their 69th Wedding Anniversary. They had seven children. Ruby loved life and she was always volunteering to help. For 30 years she cooked wonderful and tasty meals for the children of St. Anne’s Grade School. She started when her youngest daughter was five and retired when her youngest granddaughters were 6. She loved the children and enjoyed her time at St. Anne’s. She also ran a catering business Ruby’s Kitchen for several years, and decorated many wedding and special occasion cakes. She was an active member of the St. Anne’s Guild helping with many gift fairs and cooking many Deanery dinners for the priests. With a large family she had access to “volunteers” to assist her. She was a den mother for Boy Scouts, a 4-H leader for the Doin’ Dozen 4-H Club and an active member of United Commercial Travelers (UCT) where she made many good friends and enjoyed traveling with them. She leaves behind her husband, Mike; sons, John Schepper, Bismarck, Theodore (Ted) Schepper and his wife Laurie, Redmond, WA; daughters, Patricia Tonder, Traverse City, MI, Colleen Bredahl, Bismarck, Bernadette and her husband Neal Houser, Bismarck; grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Tonder, Michael Tonder, Stephen Osterlund, Carolyn and Scott Decker, Jenna Osterlund, Sara Tonder, Christopher Bredahl, Benjamin (Ben) and Whitney Schepper, Joseph Bredahl, Jaime Houser and Angela Houser; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Christian, Jordan, Andrew, Ellie and Elizabeth Ruby; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kay and Donovan Kitsch; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was met in heaven by her parents; infant son, Richard; eldest daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Mike Osterlund; sons-in-law, Robert Tonder and Jerry Bredahl; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sally Anderson; in-laws, Rose and Jens Olson, Dan and Jean Schepper, Ed Schepper, Frank and Dean Schepper, Lilly and Arnie Hjelmstad and Tony Schepper. We will love you and miss you forever.
