Sharon I. Thompson (Sherry), age 75, Mandan, passed away on March 3, 2026, at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento, CA.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Sherry was born March 18, 1950, in Hebron, ND, to Ray and Leona (Fuchs) Bertsch. She spent her early childhood in Mandan and Bismarck, where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1968. After graduation, she moved to Glendive, MT, to accept a position at Eastmont Training Center, a home and school for handicapped children. While working in Glendive, she met her future husband, Larry Thompson. They were married on June 12, 1971, and blessed with a son, Eric, in 1975.
In 1978, the family moved to Mandan, where Larry worked for the BN Railroad. In 1981, Sherry started working for the Mandan Public School District as a teacher’s aide and later transferred to an assistant librarian position. She worked in that position until she retired in 2013, after a total of 29 years of service.
Most important to Sherry were her family and friends. She also enjoyed doing crafts, fishing, gardening, and working around the house. Spending time with her family, playing games and cards (especially during the holidays and other special occasions), meant the world to her. She will be missed by the family and friends that she loved so dearly.
Sherry is survived by her son, Eric, and his wife, Lisa, California; and two granddaughters (the loves of her life), Juniper Kate and Tabitha Kate. She is also survived by one sister, Darlene Boustead and her fiancé, David Mittlestadt, of Bismarck; and one brother-in-law, David Price, of Bismarck. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews with whom she was very close.
Sherry only lived two months and eight days past the death of her husband, Larry. Life without him was simply too much to bear. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ray; mother, Leona; sister, Diane (Price); brother, Gary; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and one infant nephew, Lucian Boustead.
Funeral services will be held at Parkway Funeral and Cremation on March 31, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
