Shirley Schulz, 84, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 27, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, with Rev. Natasha Woitzel-Kolles officiating. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on March 26 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Shirley was born on October 25, 1941, in Bismarck, ND, to Gottlieb and Hertha (Werre) Oster. She married Glenn Schulz on June 4, 1960. Together, they raised five sons during their 48 years of marriage.
Early in their marriage, Shirley worked as a keypunch operator for the State of North Dakota and later at Gate City Bank. She and Glenn also owned and operated Wicks ’n’ Sticks in Kirkwood Mall for 15 years.
In later years, Shirley and Glenn enjoyed traveling together and took several cruises. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, and spending time with family.
Shirley is survived by her sons: Robert (Theresa) Schulz of Casper, WY; Mark (Connie) Schulz of Bismarck; Scot (Cindy) Schulz of Roscoe, IL; Troy Schulz of Bismarck; and Shawn (Mollie) Schulz of Bismarck; her brother, Vernon Oster; her sisters, Lorraine Maw, Delores Dockter, Deborah (Randy) Diede; Grandchildren Curtis (Mary Lynn) Schulz of Casper; Matthew (Chelsea) of Glenrock; Katherine (Carson) Averill, of Bigfork; Natalie Schulz, Andrea (Thomas) Schulz, and Maria Schulz of Casper, Brock Schulz of Mandan, Dion Schulz of Fargo, Evan (Alaina) Schulz of Bismarck, and Nicholas Schulz of Bismarck, Melissa and Dylan Schulz of Bismarck. Shirley also had 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; her brothers, Harry Oster and Art Oster; and her sister, Irene Chimelewski.
