Steven Edward Johs was born on January 1, 1965, in Wishek, North Dakota. He was raised in Napoleon until second grade, when he moved with his family to Bismarck (Bismarck High School class of 1983), the community he proudly called home for the rest of his life.
Steve was known for his strong work ethic and his belief in doing every job the right way. He stayed busy, took pride in his craft, and brought energy and humor to every role he held. His lifelong knack for connecting with people showed early—whether he was dancing in a ketchup costume at Pacific Sound, working in sales and finance at Ressler Chevrolet, or running his own home audio company. For the past 20+ years, he dedicated himself to Affinity Global Solutions as a software support specialist, where his patience, knowledge, and commitment made a lasting impact on colleagues and customers alike.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He is survived by his wife Shirley Johs; children, Miranda (John) Stanley, Derek (Jamie) Olson, and Layne (Shae) Johs; grandchildren who lit up his world: Aisha, Aiden, Peter, Paige, Nolan, Jocelyn, Vivian, and Camille; along with his great‑granddaughter, Aleia; He was also a loving and devoted brother/brother-in-law to; Florence (Frank) Wangler, Helen (Leonard) Berger, Jo Jordan, Al Huber, Shirlene (Scott) Schafer, Carleen (Dan) Scherr, Ron (June) Larson, Wayne (Mary) Larson and Steve (LuAnn) Larson.
Steve was greeted in heaven by his parents John and Ann Johs; brother, George Johs; sister, Bernie Huber; Shirley’s parents, Ray and Ann Larson; brothers‑in‑law, Bob Jordan and Charles Larson; niece, Lori Huber Bartnick; and great-nephew, Brady Bartnick.
Family was the center of Steve’s life. He was known for his steady presence, his generosity, and the pride he took in watching his children and grandchildren grow. No matter the sport or the scoreboard, Steve was always their biggest fan. His unexpected passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who knew him, but his warmth, humor, and unwavering love will continue to guide them.
Steve’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless moments of joy he created. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
