Stewart Joseph Denis was born on September 3, 1957 in Fargo. He was the son of James and Virginia (Roden) Denis. Stewart survived open heart surgery when he was 4 ½ years old. After graduating from Fargo North High School in 1976, Stewart embarked on a journey of diverse careers, ranging from security to working with an underground cable company. He even spent two years in Duluth, where he found employment at Jeno's Pizza.
Fate intervened one unforgettable evening when Stewart met the love of his life, Sandra Kay Althoff. On June 18, 1983, they joyfully exchanged wedding vows in Mooreton, ND. For a while, they resided in Fargo before relocating to Beulah, where Stewart thrived in roles involving security and chemical cleaning. In 1989, the couple settled in Bismarck. Stu attended Bismarck Junior College, where he completed a welding program. He also became certified as an EMT-Basic, eventually deciding not to keep up with the rigorous continuing education requirements and he let his license go. This is when Stewart discovered his true calling as a monitor technician in Telemetry at St. Alexius Hospital. He dedicated three decades of loyal service to his patients, and considered his colleagues his family. He especially formed a bond with Kent Hummel.
Stewart and Sandy welcomed Nicholas James in 1998, bringing immeasurable love and happiness into their lives. Stewart’s focus changed to being the best dad in the world.
Stewart's many interests and hobbies contributed to the richness of his life. He cherished his gold panning adventures, which he developed a passion for during a trip to the Black Hills. Countless hours were spent in his garage, sifting through gravel and searching for flecks of gold. Additionally, he found solace and excitement in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, embarking on numerous journeys to the annual Sturgis Rally. He liked cooking and was an excellent cook. Stu also enjoyed genealogy.
