Tamme Rae (Hansen) Sweringen, 66, of Mandan, ND, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at Sanford Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family and many loved ones.

A Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., on Tuesday, August 11, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy. With a vigil service starting at 7 p.m.

Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Tamme was born on January 28, 1960, in Mandan, ND, to Shirley (Berger) Lee and Harlow Hansen. She was born and raised in Mandan, a community that would always hold a special place in her heart. In 1996, Tamme moved to Sparks, Nevada, to be with the love of her life and best friend, Steven Sweringen. The two were married on December 21, 1998, and built a life together filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.

Tamme found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, but above all else, family was everything to her. One of her greatest joys was being “Nana.” She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and shared a unique and special bond with each one of them. Her grandchildren knew just how deeply their Nana loved them, and the memories they made together will be cherished forever.

Life with Tamme was rarely boring. She had a special way of making even ordinary moments unforgettable. Whether it was starting a food fight, having a water fight with the garden hose—even inside the house—or putting a perfectly good birthday cake in someone’s face, Tamme knew how to make people laugh and create memories that would be talked about for years to come.

More than anything, Tamme had a heart that made room for everyone. She was the person you could call at any time, and her door was always open. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, comfortable, and loved. Whether you were family, a longtime friend, or someone she had just met, Tamme had a way of making you feel like you belonged.

She enjoyed camping, working in the yard, sharing morning coffee with her husband, and simply having the company of the people she cared about. Tamme also took great pride in her work with Mandan Public Schools as “the lunch lady.” It was much more than a job to her. Through her work, she formed many special friendships that extended far beyond the school walls.

Tamme is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Steven Sweringen; her son, Cory (Sarah) Bryson; and her six cherished grandchildren, Dakota, Dylan, Chance, Sonda, Addalynn, and Brodie. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Tim, Terry (Stephanie), and Teddy (Gloria); many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her dear aunts and uncles.

Tamme is reunited in the afterlife in the loving arms of her sweet daughters, Sonda Hansen and Tina Cline, and with her mother, Shirley Lee. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Donald “John” Cline; her nephew, Chance Sauers; her dads, Orville, Donny Doo, and Ted; and many other beloved aunts, uncles, and special cousins.

Tamme will be remembered for her big heart, her sense of humor, her open door, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, and memories that her family and friends will carry with them always.

Those who knew and loved Tamme will forever remember that with her around, there was always room for one more, always a reason to laugh, and always enough love to go around.
