Theresa Lacher, 86, passed away on July 23, 2026.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, August 7, at the Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a rosary and vigil beginning at 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck.
Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 8, at Riverview Cemetery, 815 9th Ave W, Williston.
Theresa V (Mathern) Lacher was born on October 13, 1939 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wald) Mathern in Napoleon, ND. She attended school In Napoleon, ND. After school Theresa helped on the family farm. At age 19 she moved to Linton and Bismarck to work at various places. In 1960 she moved to Minot, Nd ... and married Anthony "Tony" A. Lacher on March 17, 1962. They resided in Minot, ND till 1969 where four of their children were bom. They moved to Willston to further Tony's career in Kirby vacuum cleaner sales. In Williston two more children were born. When the youngest children were in elementary school, she went to work at the Driver's license Bureau. She then went on to Opportunity Foundation as a Residential Manager of two group homes while simultaneously continuing to financially manage her husband's Westside Vacs business. She continued to manage Westside Vacs and after her husband's death in 2002 until she moved from Williston in 2013. She retired from Opportunity Foundation after 25 years.
Theresa was actively involved in St. Joseph's Church with Catholic Daughters and Cursillo. She was a Eucharistic Minister for 11 years at St. Joseph's Church. She belonged to Parkway Gals Homemakers Club in Williston, ND for many years.
She enjoyed traveling. She traveled with her husband to Europe. She traveled alone to Mexico and Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit the Apparition Hill by St. James Church where six local children reported seeing the Virgin Mary. She also went on a cruise to Bahamas with her daughter Sheila Lacher. Theresa made frequent car trips alone to visit her children spread across the Uniled States. Including, Minneapolis, MN; Fort Peck, MT; Wichita, KS; Lincoln, NB; Omaha, NB.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Jan) Lacher, Shoreview, MN, Joseph (Adriana) Lacher, Prescott Valley, AZ, Sheila Lacher, Rapid City, SD, Ricky (Barb) Lacher, Lincoln, NB, Serena (Clayton) Gold, Wichita, KS, Vanessa (Jason) Eggebrecht, Fort Peck, MT; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernie (Leo) Vetter, Bismarck, ND, and Dorothy Hoopman, Bismarck, ND.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony Alfred Lacher; brothers, John, Joe, and Blase Mathern and; her sisters, Maggie Vetter, Katie Welder, Elizabeth Wald, Mary Nicolini, Rose Aberle, and Mary Eve Aberle.
