Bismarck

Thomas Frederick Orchard, Jr. passed away on May 1, 2024 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, May. 10 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 601 N 4th St, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating.

Tom was born on June 1, 1957 to Ruth (née Kracke) and Thomas Orchard, Sr. as the first of their three sons. Tom lived his entire life in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1976. He underwent additional training in truck driving and other vocations and worked for many years for the city of Bismarck in the Department of Engineering.

He was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church throughout his life, and when growing up served as an altar boy. Tom very much enjoyed time spent at Blue Lake with family and friends, and he was also happy in visiting and exploring land that was owned by the family in the Killdeer area in northwestern North Dakota.

Tom’s family was a central aspect of his life, and he is survived by his brothers, Dr. Paul (Joan) Orchard and their children, Christina, Alex, and Ryan of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Dr. Todd (Kim) Orchard and their children Ian and Ellie of Lincoln, Nebraska. Other family that has been important to Tom includes his aunt, Virginia (Mal) Olson; his cousins, Tana (Brad) Banker, Rick (Tammy) Olson, Jeff (Leonie) Orchard, Dave (Cindi) Orchard, Dan (Brenda) Orchard and their families.

Tom will long be remembered as a loving brother and friend.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Grace Home Care, as well as the staff at St. Alexius Hospital.
