Travis L. Mittleider

July 14, 1983 — December 4, 2023

Travis L. Mittleider, 40, Tappen, passed away surrounded by his family, on Monday at St. Alexius hospital due to complications from Type 1 diabetes.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Zion Methodist Church in Tappen, ND,

Born on July 14, 1983, in Pierre, South Dakota, Travis was the first born of Jeffrey and Suzy (Pfaff) Mittleider. At a young age, Travis relocated with his mother to Bismarck, North Dakota, where he received his early education. He later attended high school in Arizona upon moving closer to his father. At the age of 18, Travis returned to Tappen, where he resided until his passing.

Travis was united in marriage to Jessica Wallner, and together they were blessed with the joy of raising three beautiful daughters, Annabell, Zoey, and Sidney. They later divorced, but worked together to raise the girls. Travis loved spending time with his girls, whether it was working together in the garden, feeding the chickens or all three of his daughters agreed that riding the custom lawnmowers their dad made was the most fun of all!

Travis had a passion for trucks and truck driving. Although his illness prevented him from pursuing a full-time career as a truck driver, he found solace in working on them, as a mechanic. Travis also showcased his mechanical finesse by undertaking various odd jobs around the Tappen area and lending a helping hand to farmers near and far.

In his leisure time, Travis found joy in playing the game Farm Simulator, immersing himself in a virtual world where he could bring his agricultural dreams to life. He indulged his adventurous spirit with exhilarating rides on his trusty Honda motorcycle. Travis also found relaxation in assembling intricate model trucks.

Travis leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of his daughters, Annabell (11), Zoey (8), and Sidney (6) all of Tappen. He also leaves behind his father, Jeffrey (Teresa) Mittleider of Phoenix, Arizona, and his mother Suzy Mittleider of Queen Valley, Arizona. Travis will be dearly missed by his siblings, Oscar (Michelle) Papini and their children, Presley and Raelynn of Phoenix, Arizona, Derek (Teralin) Mittleider and their children, Avery and Christopher of New River, Arizona, Ashley Mittleider and her children, Alyxa, Victoria and Dylan of Glendale, Arizona, Tiffany Winson and her children, Haylee and Kassidy of Jamestown, ND and his girlfriend, Sherri Cahoon of Tappen. He will also be fondly remembered by his paternal grandmother, June Mittleider of Tappen, North Dakota, his maternal grandmother, Donna (Terry) Hilmo of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Travis was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Melvin Mittleider, and his maternal grandfather, Melvin Pfaff. Their memories will forever be cherished alongside Travis's.

Memorials are preferred to go to Travis’ girls, Annabell, Zoey and Sidney in care of Jessica Mittleider, PO Box 174, Steele, ND 58482.
