Val was born on March 15th, 1964 in Grand Forks ND to Kenneth and Karen (Carlson) Halldorson. Val was a happy child who enjoyed playing with her sister Vicki, her time in Girl Scouts, playing in band, and being on the softball team. Val’s elementary school years were spent in Valley City at Jefferson Elementary and then Valley City High School through 9th grade. After ninth grade the family moved to Bismarck and Val graduated from Bismarck High School in 1982.
After graduation she went to college to earn her associates degree and start her banking career. Over the years she had many titles in banking, but the one she enjoyed most was being a mortgage lender at Us Bank. She spent thirty years of her life loving her career in banking. She also was very active serving in her community on numerous boards and events.
Val married Todd Timm on June 9th, 1984, in Bismarck. Together they enjoyed gathering with friends and family to have fun and laughter. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed most to be around the people she loved. They went on many trips, but one of her favorites was their annual trip to We Fest with all of her friends.
Val and Todd made their home in Bismarck, ND and had their first daughter Lindsae on November 12th, 1984. Soon after they were expecting their second daughter Karrie, who was born on May 25th, 1985. Lastly, their baby boy Dylan was born on May 5th, 1992. Val loved to cuddle her babies and often told them she would sing “You are My Sunshine” to them while she was pregnant and into their childhood. Her favorite past times with her family were trips to Lake Ashtabula to her sister Vicki’s cabin where we would spend the day sitting as a family by the lake, boating, tubing, and having late night bonfires.
Val had an infectious laugh and was so very clever and witty. Even through all of her struggles and illnesses over the years she brought a light into the world that can never be replaced. She was a caretaker to all and was always kind and gentle to everyone she met.
Val is survived by her loving parents Karen and Kenneth Halldorson, of Bismarck; her husband Todd Timm, of Bismarck; her children Lindsae (Christian) Timm, Karrie Timm, Dylan (Kamela) Timm, all of Bismarck; her step son Jesse (Amanda) Hochhalter; her grandchildren Jameson, Jackson, Lilli, Gracie, Tanny, June, Caiden, Zaedyn, Lilyana, and Trulee, all of Bismarck; her sister and brother in law Vicki (Dave) Pedersen, of Valley City; her nieces and nephews Sarah (Wyatt) Tulp, Neil (Charlene) McKay, Amanda Nielsen, Michael (Taylor) Pedersen, Melissa Pedersen, all of Valley City; Karlee Harter, Cameron (Alexis) Harter, of Bismarck; Alex (Jordenelle) Harter, Mason (Kasandra) Harter, of Steele; her mother in law Theresa Jacob, of Bismarck; her father in law Larry Jacob; her sister in laws and brother in laws Vicki Timm, of Bismarck; Don (Deb) Timm, of California, Kelly Timm, of California; Michelle (Craig) Held, of Wyoming; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
