Verdell Helen Schuler was born on July 23, 1939, in McLean County to Arthur and Hilda (Schlaht) Schuler. She attended school in Bismarck and Garrison. After her father's passing, her family moved frequently forming a lifelong, loving bond with her siblings.
In 1955, Verdell married Bernie Weisz, and together they raised six sons; Doug, Don, Dave, Dwight, Dan, and Dale. Above all, her family was the center of her world. While raising six rambunctious boys known as the "Weisz Boys", she always opened her home and her kitchen to their friends, which easily turned 6 into 60 who called her their 2nd Mom.
Verdell had many passions including singing and dancing to a polka or waltz. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking, baking, and canning (she made the best pickles!). In her free time, she enjoyed reading, embroidering, playing cards, bowling, fishing with Leonard, tending to her garden, and enjoying the latest gossip.
Verdell is survived by her sons, Doug (Gayl) of Sugarland, TX, Don (Pauline) Ft. Rice, ND, Dave (Patty), Dwight (Lisa), Dan (Brenda), all of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Chad (Lea) of Richmond, TX, Emily Morris (Russty), Cole, Shay (Nataly), Gabriel, Erika, Danielle, Dalton (Maria) of Bismarck, and Christopher Hoffer of Mandan; great grandchildren, Andrew Weisz, Jayce and Brinley Morris, Bentley Weisz, and Evalyn Weisz; siblings, Carol Thompson, Mary Werner, and Artie Wahl; daughter-in-law, Peggy Weisz and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son Dale, parents, sister Arlene Anderson, and special friend Leonard Weigum.
A very special thank you to Baptist Health and Rehab for the nearly six years of care for Verdell.
The family welcomes memorials to Baptist Health and Rehab or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
