Vernon Martell, 76, Bismarck, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on November 22, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, Bismarck.

Vernon was born in Wishek on July 2, 1943 to Paul and Marie (Reich) Martell. Vern was educated in Wishek and joined the ND Army National Guard in 1961. After being honorably discharged, he worked in the lumber mills in Missoula, MT. He was then employed by several different trucking companies until he started his own business in the late 1960’s. In 1965 he married Cheryl Schlabach from Driscoll, ND. The couple resided in Bismarck and raised two daughters.

Vern loved trucking, had a passion for classic cars and took pride in his sparkling-clean vehicles. He enjoyed touching base with family and friends on a regular basis. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughters, Annette (Tom) Theis and Cyndi (Ken) Wald; grandchildren, Ben, Brandon, Austin, Katie, Jaxon, and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Roman and Hunter; brother, Clinton; sisters, Idella (Garland) Dockter, Paulette (Darrell) Bittner, and Debbie (Fred) Schauer.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents.
