Walter John Eiseman passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 15, 2025.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

He was born in McIntosh County, the son of John and Christine (Werre) Eiseman. Walter graduated from Wishek High School and went on to earn his degree from the University of Jamestown.

Walter and Marilyn (Schaffer) were married for 67 wonderful years. They made their home in Bowman, North Dakota, for 36 years, where they raised their four children: Naomi, Stephanie (Bob), Jill (Mark), and Brian (Debra). For the past 23 years, Walter and Marilyn called Bismarck home.

Throughout his career, Walter served his community in many ways. He began as Director of Social Services for Bowman, Slope, and Adams Counties, later became a loan officer at First National Bank, and eventually transitioned into a respected role as a realtor. He was also an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving on church boards in both Bowman and Bismarck, and served as a commissioner on the Bowman School Board.

Walter was widely known and admired for his dedication to high school athletics as a basketball referee. His outstanding contributions earned him induction into the North Dakota High School Activities Association Hall of Fame, an honor he deeply cherished.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Walt especially enjoyed golfing on Men's Day at the Bowman course, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings with friends, and relaxing on Lake Oahe-navigating the pontoon, catching walleye, and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, their four children, seven grandchildren, and his sister, Violet Diegel.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Benedictine Living Community for their exceptional care and compassion.
