IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill" C.
Hansen
November 1, 1931 – February 15, 2026
William “Bill” C. Hansen, 94 Wilton, passed away on February 15, 2026, at the Baptist Health and Rehab.
A Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
Bill was born on November 1, 1931, southwest of Wilton in Painted Woods Township to Arthur and Martha (Fairman) Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed at Painted Woods Lutheran Church. Bill attended Painted Woods School Number 1 and later graduated from Wilton High School.
Bill married Carol Hagerott on December 27, 1960. They later divorced. Bill ranched with his family and eventually took over the farm. He was born and raised during the Great Depression. He knew the true meaning of having nothing and making do with what you have. When he was young, they used horses to plant and harvest. Bill would often tell stories about when electricity came to the area. Bill enjoyed the spring because it was a time for new life, as he always looked forward to calving season.
He lived southwest of Wilton most of his life, except for living in Bismarck for a few years. Bill had a strong work ethic. He was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors. Bill worked for Burleigh County Highway Department out of Wilton, running the maintainer for a few years. He had a great memory. Bill could remember birthdays and events from the past. He served on the Painted Woods Township Board, Farmers Union Oil Board, Farmers Union elevator board & ASCS board. Bill was a proud supporter of CO-OPS. He liked to visit with people and never met a stranger. People would ask Bill what was the secret to his longevity. He would say he never smoked, never drank, and never chased wild women.
Bill is survived by his daughter Kristin (Mike) Love of Bismarck, son Bruce (Jan) Hansen; grandchildren Kelsey (Skyler) Meyer, Mason (Brooke) Love, Logan and Brady Hansen, great grandson Jameson Meyer. Sister Mary Schreiner, Littleton, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Hansen, sisters Jeanne Workman, Marjorie Oberg, Betty Brostrom, Martha Carlson, brother-in-laws Abram Workman, Gerald Oberg, Keith Schreiner, Morris Brostrom, Clayton Carlson, and sister-in-law Vivian Hansen.
Bill’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Baptist Health and Rehab for the compassionate and exceptional care provided to their father.
