Mae Sease

December 2, 1925 — August 28, 2016

Mae Sease 90, died Sunday August 28, 2016, from heart complications at Napoleon Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 2, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Bryan Hochhalter officiating. Mae was born to Emma and Albert Lang on December 2nd, 1925. Mae came into this life in a snowstorm, with her twin sister, in a car on the way to the hospital. They were born 2 pounds each and kept in a shoe box with a hot water bottle for warmth until they could be on their own. She was raised in McClusky, North Dakota, with her 4 sisters. Mae graduated from McClusky high school and worked at the McClusky drug store in her younger years. In February 1947, Mae married Raymond Sease, her loving husband of 67 years. They moved to Bismarck in 1958 and had 4 children. In Bismarck Mae babysat neighborhood children, her friends, children, nieces and nephews, and her own grandchildren. Mae was a member of the Bismarck Baptist Church. Her beautiful alto voice could be heard as she harmonized during the church hymns. She was a perfect example of our purpose in life to “Love one another”. Her caring for others was constant. Anyone in need, sick, death of a loved one, new baby, Mae was right there sitting by a bedside, bringing food, making meals, and sending cards and money. Her German cooking skills were second to none. Her homemade buns, kuchens, dough dishes, turkey dressing, along with any type of canning were equally phenomenal and greatly appreciated by her friends and neighbors with whom she always shared. With no exception, Mae always made sure that the needy came first. Except for one trip to Colorado to see her grandchildren, Mae never took a vacation in her life. She preferred to be at home with family and friends, cooking, reading, visiting, or sitting outside on a nice summer night. After her husbands death Mae resided at Lakewood Landing Memory Care, where she and twin sister celebrated their 90th birthday party with 65 of her family and friends, including her oldest sister Jerda who was 99 years old. It was truly a special day. In May of 2016, Mae moved to Napoleon Care Center to receive skilled care from a caring and loving staff. Mae leaves behind 3 children: Jay Sease/Fay Miller, Lynn Sease, Tamara Sease/Mark Holzer; five grandchildren: Jordan and Lexi Holzer, Logan Sease, Aubrey (Sease) Labrato, Casey Sease, Heather (Sease) Robinson, and five great-grandchildren; her one remaining sister and twin Marion (Ted) Heitzman; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma (Wahl) and Albert Lang; her husband Raymond Sease; and one son Robin Sease; three sisters: Jerda Meyer, Marjory Thiele, Jacobina Lang; three stepsisters, Hilda Kiesz, Peggy Benzel, and Edna Bruns; and her stepfather, Martin Lang.
