Doris Mack, was born October 10, 1936, at Glen Ullin, ND, and later moved to Medina with her family. She was the daughter of Catherine and Frank Schumacher. While living at Medina, Doris’s father met a sweet young man, named Tony Mack. Through her father, they began courting. Doris immediately fell in love with Tony, and the next thing you knew, Doris asked Tony if he’d marry her, and by age 18, she became Mrs. Tony Mack. Tony and Doris then made their home on a farm north of Pettibone. They had three children, Catherine, Anna, and Steven. They spent their lives farming, milking cows, and ranching. They were totally inseparable. Where you saw Doris, you saw Tony. They attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Williams, ND. Once Doris and Tony retired, they moved into the little town of Pettibone. Doris always loved her gardening, her flower beds, and having a yard filled with decor, mostly made up of lawn ornaments that Tony made for her. They always enjoyed fishing with friends and going out dancing, (and Doris could do a mean Polka). As they began to age; they spent a lot of time with their children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters. Doris was always known for making some of the best German meals, along with her famous Kuchens, which she made sure to take time making kuchens with her daughters and daughter-in-law, to carry on that tradition. This little German Fraulein, made people smile where ever she went. Hearing her quaint, German accent made you chuckle. She was a humble and special little gal that could light up a room when she entered it. She liked flowery things and a little bling to dress up. Doris never needed monetary things to make her happy. She maybe didn’t have an abundance in money and wealth, but she was rich beyond measure in the love given to her by her late Prince Charming and her family. Doris is survived by her daughters, Cathy Unterseher, of Bowdon, ND, Anna (Terry) Wald, of Bismarck, and son, Steve (Brenda) of Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Andrea) Wald, Lance Wald, Mitch (Amanda) Wald, all of Bismarck, Megan Mack, (Scott Kramer), Seattle, WA, Bryce Mack, Minneapolis, MN, Slade Untersher, Bismarck, Cheyenne (Riley) Schriefer, Golden Valley, ND, and Cassidy (Zac) Peterson, Velva, ND; Doris’s three great-granddaughters, Zander, and Paisley Wald, children of Lance Wald and Katie Wald, and Annabelle Wald, daughter to Mitch and Amanda Wald. She is also survived by her sisters, Johanna Kvigne, Laura Stern, Kathy Devillers, Janie Mueller, Donna Handt; and her brothers, Jim, Emanuel, Joseph, and Francis Schumacher. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son-in-law, Wade Unterseher; sisters, Adeline and Regina Schumacher, Anna Gwynn, Monica Brummond (Tootie); and brothers Mark and Edward Schumacher. Her late husband, the Tony Mack family was extremely special to her as well, and always looked after her. A special thanks to Lenora Kutz, and Simon and Fern Mack for always looking after her. Doris touched many hearts and truly was a one of a kind woman. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. We know when she entered those pearly gates, Jesus greeted her with, “Welcome, my good and faithful servant.”
