Pearl A. Dockter

111 years to the day after her mother was born, Pearl Dockter, 88, passed away on December 10, 2016, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 15, at 11:00 AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1143 North 26th Street, Bismarck, with Rev. Nadine Lehr officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, Bismarck, and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pearl Adeline Bonnet was born April 25, 1928, at home southeast of Lincoln Valley, ND to Jacob J. Bonnet and Pauline née Hieb. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Lincoln Valley. She taught rural school for two years after graduation from McClusky High School in 1946. She married Roy Dockter on July 25, 1947 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Goodrich. They moved to Goodrich in 1948. During the following 50-year residence in Goodrich, she was active in many different endeavors and organizations. She received a 39-year award for service to the Goodrich City Board as assessor, worked at local businesses including the hardware store, and assisted her husband in a family farming venture. She was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bismarck, American Legion auxiliary, VFW auxiliary, and Rural Letter Carriers auxiliary. In 1998, Pearl and Roy moved from Goodrich to Bismarck. Her hobbies included card-playing, collecting antiques, crocheting and cooking (family will always recall Pearl and Roy’s extensive summer canning and Christmas cookies and candy extravaganzas). Roy died January 21, 2012, and she continued to live in Bismarck. Pearl is survived by two sons, Greg (Jackie) Dockter, Bismarck, and Bryon (Jane) Dockter, Prior Lake MN; two grandsons, Jake (Kristi) Dockter, Traverse City MI, and Benjamin (Christen) Dockter, Prior Lake MN; three granddaughters, Michelle (Bill) Vitt, St. Paul MN, Christine (Christopher) Anderson, Richfield MN, and Cindy Dockter (partner Leila), Portland OR; and four great-grandchildren, Theresa Vitt, Catherine Vitt, Evan Dockter, and Nicholas Dockter. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Wallace Bolte (special friend Leah), Bismarck; brother-in-law, Duane (Lois) Dockter, Great Falls MT; sister-in-law, Marion Burck, Hettinger; and sister-in-law, Betty (Arlin) Bartels, Lemmon SD; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter-in-law, Margo Dockter; great-grandson, Barrett Dockter; sister, Darlene Schacher-Bolte; brother-in-law, Wally Schacher; brother-in-law and wife, Clifford and Louise Dockter; brother-in-law and wife, Theodore and Norma Dockter; and brother-in-law, Bill Burck. Memorials may be made to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Foundation, North Dakota Veterans Cemetery Foundation, Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church (Goodrich), or the charity of the Donor’s choice.
