James C. Janusz

James C. Janusz (Jim), 69, passed away on Nov. 28, 2021, in the ICU (non-Covid) at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck where he received outstanding care.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 W. Second St., Bismarck. Family will be greeting guests at 9:30 a.m. preceding Mass. Jim and Mary have been members of Corpus Christi for 30+ years believing in God, family and giving back with a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.

Jim was born June 26, 1952 and grew up in Milwaukee, WI along with his parents Roland and Irene Janusz and siblings Jack and Janet. Jim was a lifelong sports fan and continued to follow the Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers. For many years Jim was involved in Wisconsin and North Dakota sports through coaching, softball, refereeing, umpiring, charity organizations and volunteering.

In September 1973, Jim married Mary Schuster and they moved to Bismarck in 1975. In 1987, their daughter Jessica was born. Jim was a true fan, following Jessica as she played soccer, basketball, and golf at St. Mary’s High School and soccer in college, at the University of Mary. He was a proud dad of her accomplishments and her becoming an optometrist.  In 2009, Jessica married Mike Keller and they have three girls that were truly the love of Jim’s life: Brita, Brooklyn and Bristol.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Irene Janusz, and brother, Jack Janusz.

He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter, Jessica (Mike) Keller; special granddaughters; loving sister, Janet (Darryl) Dobogai; his in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and Gangl Hospitality co-workers where Jim was their Corporate Trainer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary’s grade school.
