LaRae Peterson

November 19, 1955 — January 8, 2022

LaRae Peterson, 66, Bismarck, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 8, 2022.

Family will greet visitors from 5-7:00PM, Thursday, January 13, for a time of sharing at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave.

LaRae was born on November 19, 1955 to James M. & Shirley E. (Schmidt) Peterson in Plentywood, MT. In 1962 the family moved to Mandan, where LaRae graduated from Mandan High School in 1974. She worked for Gateway Super Valu from 1982 until 1992.

In August of 1983, LaRae married James Mitchusson and enjoyed the trips to Missouri to visit family there. She especially enjoyed the family reunions and spoke of them with enthusiasm. She then went on to a lengthy career with Pride Inc. and enjoyed working with the residents and her coworkers. LaRae also volunteered at Kitty City in Mandan, and it became like her second home. She loved playing and taking care of the kitties and loved spending time with the staff as well. She was especially proud of the video they made of her taking care of the kitties; her eyes lit up every time she talked about it.

Her pride and joy were her nieces & nephews-Todd Dirks, Lucas and Alyssa Hoffmeier, Samantha (Brian) Henley, Allan (Caitlin) Michael (Krystal) Peterson, Brittany (Brandon) Swensrud, Shawn (Ally) Brian and Jonathan Samuelson and numerous great-nieces & nephews. She loved them all as her own and only wanted the best for them. She was always excited to see them and hear about what was going on in their lives.

LaRae also enjoyed visiting with friends and family and always took time to lend a helping hand for whomever or whatever was needed.

She will be deeply missed by her sister, Sherri (Dan) Samuleson and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick (Tina) and Doug (Brenda) Peterson.

LaRae was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James, Virgil and Kevin.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Kitty City-PO Box 4125, Bismarck, ND 58502.
