Shannon Ray Szarkowski, 55, Bismarck, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Cremation has taken. 

A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, July 11, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery on the upper terrace.

Shannon was born to “Ray” Raphael and “Lynn” Deanna Szarkowski on November 28, 1966. He graduated in 1984 from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck. He worked in his family’s business, Ray’s Lawn Service in Bismarck until he moved to Colorado and began a career driving semi-trucks. He moved back to Bismarck to care for his parents and eventually became a driver for Fed-Ex Freight.

He enjoyed old cars and pickups. He liked driving semis and his favorite run was Boise to Salt Lake. He loved animals and had a particularly soft spot for cats. His best feline buddy, Big Boy, was his driving partner for the last ten years. Shannon also loved nature and riding his sister’s bike on the trails around Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Ray; his sister, Karyn and his grandma, Rose McIntyre.
